The halal industry is growing rapidly in various sectors, such as food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and Islamic finance. To support this growth, technological innovations such as blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT) have become essential tools in ensuring transparency, security, and traceability of halal products in line with digital transformation and Industrial Revolution 4.0.

In the above context, the halal industry, with its great potential, can also contribute to sustainability and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, it can support SDG 9, which focuses on industrial innovation, as well as food security, responsible consumption and production, and global cooperation.

In order to discuss various opportunities and challenges of the halal industry in the digital era and its relationship with global sustainability, Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) is collaborating with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia. The two universities will organize The 7th International Conference on Halal Policy, Culture, and Sustainability, abbreviated as The 7th IC-Halal UMI. This conference aims to bring together academics, researchers, industry practitioners, government, and stakeholders. The scientific discussions and strategic collaborations generated are expected to strengthen the technology-based halal industry ecosystem.
