One Belt One Road (OBOR)
The One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative is a way to achieve win-win cooperation that promotes common development and prosperity and a road towards peace and friendship by enhancing mutual understanding and trust, and strengthening all-round exchanges. It creates a new mode of mutually beneficial cooperation and presents new opportunities in respect of industrial and trade cooperation between China and countries/regions along the OBOR. It covers nearly two-thirds of the world's population and one-third of global GDP. Countries along the OBOR have their own resource advantages and their economies are mutually complementary.
Therefore, there is a great potential and space for cooperation. Five major goals of cooperation include promoting:
policy coordination;
infrastructure connectivity;
free trade;
financial integration; and
people-to-people bonds.
2016 International Conference on ONE BELT ONE ROAD at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia will collaboratively help define ideas for a post 2016 vision for China and ASEAN countries. What lies beyond 2016 is a highly integrated, cohesive and globally linked community. This will deepen institutional connectivity and coordination and place more trust amongst business people and the citizens of ASEAN countries and China.
