Round Table Discussion (RTD) on Maqasid al-Shariah, Good Governance and Muslim Empowerment
IAIS Malaysia is hosting a Round Table Discussion (RTD) on "Maqasid Al-Shariah, Good Governance, and Muslim Empowerment."
We are honoured to host Prof. Mohammad Fadel as our distinguished guest speaker. Prof. Fadel is a Professor and the Toronto Research Chair for the Law and Economics of Islamic Law at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. His insights into how these principles can guide and enhance governance practices are invaluable in fostering a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings' potential contributions to modern governance and societal well-being.
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Ahmad Badri Abdullah, the Deputy CEO of IAIS Malaysia and an expert on Maqasid Al-Shariah in systems thinking.
The roundtable will cover key areas including the core objectives of Maqasid Al-Shariah and their application to contemporary governance, the attributes of good governance from an Islamic perspective, and strategies for empowering Muslim communities through education, social justice, and economic development.
You are cordially invited to join the RTD alongside scholars, students, professionals, and community leaders.
