Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) management formally established a Science and Technology Leadership Centre at UTM in Mid-2011, with an objective of providing a platform for leadership development through Science and Technology (S&T) initiatives. UTM wishes to complement existing effort in producing leaders of change in S&T for OIC member countries and other Muslim minority communities. Today, UTM has positioned itself as an international centre of excellence that produces high quality human resource prepared to make use of S&T for the benefit of humanity. Presently, her students’ population is approximately from over 50 countries with competent staff, all in one learning environment.

The SDNLC trains students (researchers and scientists) to be effective and efficient community leaders committed to excellence in their respective disciplines in general; empowering these leaders for the S&T vision of the Muslim countries.

The centre seeks to lay a foundation to support the shared vision of establishing an organized global community of career researchers and scientists in its Vision 2025. Such an organized community of scientists with appropriate levels of training, knowledge, skills and good organization, organized (in various working teams and clusters) will become the vehicle for technology-based socio-economic development, change and transformation so as to make science and technology beneficial for all mankind and other creation.
