He has completed over 70 projects, has numerous patents and 300 publications that include books/chapters, 120 journals and 170 conference papers on sustainable planning and engineering of resources (e.g. food-chemicals-pharmaceuticals, energy, power, water & materials).

He has delivered over 300 seminars, professional workshops and invited lectures including his 2014 Imperial College Chemical Engineering Distinguished Lecture. Beyond classroom teaching, Zain is a passionate educator who has coached professionals from more than 400 companies and is the certified lead trainer for Malaysia energy managers accreditation.
